Pharmacology:
FREDCMC consists of Carboxy Methyl Cellulose, which is an anionic cellulose polymer with a carboxyl group substitution, and exhibits good bio adhesive characteristics. The anionic nature of CMC may be beneficial in increasing tear retention time. FREDCMC has shown to be effective in the treatment of aqueous tear-deficient dry eye symptoms and ocular surface staining. The viscous and mucoadhesive properties as well as its anionic charge allow prolonged retention time in the ocular surface.
